We kept Roper from our 2016 Holly/Zeke litter for our next generation of English Shepherds. Roper is our fourth generation of ES being raised here. In general Roper is a very loving girl, a quick thinker, a carrier of objects (like her grandmother Kira), has proven herself to be a varmint eradicator, listens well and has excelled as my partner. She is quite a talker (not barker, but talker) and does like to greet and lick. I am still working on the extra licking part.

Roper has interacted with puppies from the two previous litters and did well with them. She earned her UKC AG1 title at 17 months of age. While we do not have livestock here, Roper & I attended a Cathy Hartley herding clinic over the summer. Roper showed drive, and tended to be a heeler, not a header. She also did some barking, but it did not remind me of force barking to make the stock move. I am hoping to get her back into some classes or clinics in 2019.

Truman is from our 2015 GG/Logan litter. He was Vicki's pick of the litter and went to live with his mother. Truman is always up for a game of fetch. He is a beautiful open face tri, with a fairly laid back temperament. He does chase off large predatory birds, will give chase to squirrels as well.

I have been working with Truman for about a year with agility training. It has taken Vicki & myself this long to realize that he would prefer to work with her in the ring. I am just a second banana out there! Since we have made the change in handlers, he is responding well and seems to have quite a bit more focus. I am hopeful that he will be ready to run in the March 2019 agility trial.

This litter will go back to my foundation girl, Bec, on both sides of the litter's pedigree. Kira appears on both sides of the pedigree as well. I would expect these pups to be smart, quick learning dogs, along with being fairly laid back in temperament. The breeding ended up being Artificial Insemination instead of a natural breeding, as I had hoped. An ultrasound was done at 26 days. Dr. Settle could only "see" two puppies, but said that there could possibly be more, but definitely not 10. It is just a wait and see proposition at this point. We can expect the possibility of tri-colors, sable and white (like Roper) and even clear sable & white pups.
